🌞 Summer Club – Week 3: Adventures, Art, and a Lot of Soaked Socks!

What a week! Week 3 of our Summer Club was jam-packed with excitement, adventures, and just a tiny bit of chaos (the fun kind, of course!). With Jennie and Hannah CB joining our team for the week, things were always going to get a little wild – in the best way possible.

Here’s a little peek at what we got up to:

🚌 Monday – Off to Margate Caves!

We kicked off the week with a big adventure – a bus ride to the Margate Caves with Jennie. These quirky chalk caves date back to the 18th century and are full of mystery, stories, and cool, shadowy nooks to explore. The children loved learning about the secret history of the caves – especially the old well, which was the clear favourite. (There's something very exciting about deep, dark holes in the ground when you’re 4.)

🏠 Tuesday – Chill (ish) Day at Nursery

After a big Monday out, we stayed in for some serious play. The soft play was a hit (as always), and the Lego and Transformers had a full day of action.

We also discovered a new favourite game: the Aeroplane Frame Challenge – who could land their paper plane on the frame? Let’s just say, there are some future engineers in this group… and a few creative flyers who aimed for the ceiling instead.

💃 Wednesday – Just Dance & Soaked Staff

What started with a wholesome Just Dance session turned into absolute water mayhem. We had paddling pool fun, a splash-about, and then… the WATER FIGHT of the year. Kelly, Rachael, and Jennie were absolutely soaked – shoes, hair, and down to their undies (don’t worry, the children were too busy laughing to notice their teachers dripping around the garden like soggy sponges).

We wrapped up the fun with ice cream sundaes – because what else do you eat after dancing and drenching?

🚌 Thursday – Open-Top Bus + Viking Ships + Foraging with Hannah

An open-top bus ride took us past all the local sights: the harbour, the boating pool (where we saw people racing their model boats like they were in the Olympics), and finally to see the Viking Ship.

Hannah brought the magic – teaching us:

  • Where to find the sweetest blackberries

  • How to spot fairy rings in flower fields 🌸

  • And what to cook with wild fennel

  • Check our Facebook post for the full list!

Nature lessons with Hannah are like stepping into a real-life storybook.

🎨 Friday – Turner Contemporary & a “Toilet Emergency”

Friday was an artistic finish – off to Margate again for a visit to the Turner Contemporary. On the way, we had an emergency toilet stop at Kelly’s mum’s house (shout out to all the Nans who save the day!).

At the gallery, we explored the sensory bags, created chalk masterpieces in the family room, and discussed some very deep opinions about the artwork (“I could paint that!” was a common review).

We ended the week with lunch on the Harbour Arm – seagulls circling, sea breeze blowing, and lots of tired, happy children munching their sandwiches with a sea view.

And that’s a wrap on Week 3!

Thank you to Jennie and Hannah for bringing so much energy, knowledge, and fun to the club this week. From historical caves to fairy ring hunts, soaked teachers to surprise toilet stops – this week had it all.

On to Week 4… but maybe with a few more towels packed.

Stay tuned!
